If you’ve lived in Charlottetown for a while, you know that things move a little differently here. There’s a specific rhythm to life in PEI. It’s the rush of students heading down University Avenue, the busy shifts of healthcare workers at QEH or other hospitals, and families trying to squeeze in a good meal between hockey practice and homework. We love being part of this pulse.
For years, Spicey Chef has been your go to spot for that craving you know the one. That specific need for spicy, comforting, authentic Indian and Hakka Chinese cuisine. But we’ll be the first to admit something: while our kitchen was firing on all cylinders, our online presence was living a bit in the past.
That changes today.
We are incredibly excited to officially welcome you to the brand new spiceychef.ca. This isn’t just a splash of fresh paint but it’s a complete rebuild designed by putting our customers in our mind.
You might wonder why a restaurant known for traditional flavors and hospitality worries so much about a website. It’s a fair question. After all, it’s not the website where people eat.
But we realized that hospitality doesn’t start when you walk through our doors or when the delivery driver rings your doorbell. It starts the moment you think, “I’m hungry.”
We took a hard look at our old site. It did its job for a long time, but let’s be honest it belonged to a different era. It was from a time when people sat at desktop computers to plan their meals three days in advance. That’s just not how we eat anymore. Today, you are on the go. You’re sitting in your car after a long shift, scrolling through your phone. You’re walking the dog and trying to figure out what to order for dinner.
We’ve all visited a restaurant website on a smartphone and had to pinch and zoom to read a PDF menu. It’s frustrating. You spend more time fighting with your screen than looking at the food. We wanted to eliminate that friction. We believe that getting the best restaurant in Charlottetown shouldn’t be that time consuming and difficult.
The new spiceychef.ca is fully optimized for mobile. This was our biggest priority. We know that most of our customers are finding us through their phones. Whether you have an iPhone or an Android, the new site responds to your screen size instantly.
When you land on the homepage, you’ll notice it’s cleaner, faster, and much easier to navigate. We’ve worked on the clutter. Now, you can browse our full menu from our sizzling Hakka noodles to our rich curries with just a few simple taps.
We’ve also invested in high quality photography. We know that we eat with our eyes first. In the past, you might have had to guess what a dish looked like based on a text description. Now, you can drool over images of our dishes before you even order. It helps you make better choices and you might end up ordering more than enough.

Let’s talk about convenience. We know that life in PEI can get hectic. Sometimes you don’t have the time to dine in and you just want a cozy, quiet evening at home with some India Samosa, Hakka Noodles or Nepalese Mo:Mo.
The new site is designed to make online ordering in PEI seamless. We wanted the digital experience to mirror the physical one. When you come into the restaurant, we guide you to your table and hand you a menu. The website now acts as your digital host. It guides you through the categories, helps you find your favorites, and lets you place an order without the headache.
No more calling during a busy Friday night rush and being put on hold. You can take your time, customize your order, and rest assured that our kitchen is receiving it exactly as you searched for. It’s faster for you and it helps us get your food ready with even more precision.

With all this talk about technology, upgrades, and digital optimization, we want to say one important thing: The food is not changing.
Ideally, technology should be invisible. It should just work, allowing the real star of the show to shine. For us, that star is our food.
We haven’t changed who we are. We are still the same team dedicated to bringing you the most authentic Nepalese Mo:Mo, robust Indian curries, and unique Indo-Chinese fusion dishes in Charlottetown. We haven’t changed our chefs. We haven’t changed our recipes. And we certainly haven’t compromised on the quality of our ingredients.
This digital upgrade is simply a new vehicle to get our authentic flavors to your table faster. Think of it as upgrading the delivery van where the precious cargo inside remains exactly the same.
We also built this site as a thank you. The restaurant industry is competitive. We know you have plenty of choices for dining in Charlottetown. The fact that you continue to choose Spicey Chef whether for a birthday dinner, a quick lunch, or a lazy Sunday takeout means the world to us.
We wanted to give you a platform that respects your time. We know that when you’re hungry, every second counts. By streamlining our ordering process and making our menu accessible, we hope to make your life just a little bit easier.
So, we invite you to take a look around. Click through the menu sections. Read about our story. Check out the photos. Whether you are looking for spicy Vindaloo, creamy Butter Chicken, or just a quick snack of Mo:Mo, it’s all there at your fingertips.
We are incredibly proud of this new digital launch, but we are even prouder of the community we serve. Thank you to all our wonderful customers across PEI for your continued support over the years. You are the reason we strive to improve whether that’s making our curries creamier or our website faster.
Technology is great, and online ordering is convenient, but nothing beats the atmosphere of a bustling restaurant. So once you’re done exploring the site, come see us on University Avenue. The photos on the new website look great, but we promise the food tastes even better when it’s fresh out of the kitchen and served hot at your table.
Welcome to the new Spicey Chef online. We can’t wait to serve you.
